How We Met

Jennifer and Jeff met in November 2000 at the Circle Bar on Main Street in Santa Monica. Jennifer was standing by the bar with her friends when this obnoxious guy* started to hit on her. Jennifer humored him for awhile because the lines he was using were amusing in an annoying sort of way. Once he realized that he was getting nowhere fast, he walked away.

There, standing in his wake was this nice looking guy wearing retro glasses and a trucker's hat that had a picture of a moose head on it with -- no joke -- a working clock. Jennifer said, "I love your hat." Jeff said, "Do you know what time it is?"
And the rest is history...

About The Proposal

Knowing how important prolonged celebrations are to Jennifer, Jeff devised a two-part proposal for her 31st birthday. On April 23rd, he verbally proposed in the red rock desert of Sedona, Arizona and the very next day he presented her with the ring he designed at sunset on the Santa Monica beach.

About Our Lives

Jennifer received her BA from UCSB in Communications and a MS in Instructional Technology from USC in 2000. Since August 2005, she's been working at Yahoo! as a Product Manager. Recently, the scope of her job changed to oversee and manage the operations of large entertainment brand sites (like Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Marvel, and Lost).

Jeff received his BS from the University of Miami in 2000. Since October 2005, he's been working at the World Poker Tour as their Poker Analyst/Content Manager. In this position, he creates, manages, and edits (from a poker perspective) content like articles, live updates, and videos that appear on the World Poker Tour website.

Over the years, Jennifer and Jeff have shared have shared many hobbies like swing dancing and yoga. But by far, their longest running joint effort has been the home poker tour they've been directing since 2004 called the 4th Street Poker Tour. Known as Complex Slim and the First Lady, Jeff and Jennifer direct a group of 30+ poker players on a weekly basis (52 games a year) in a traveling home poker tournament that "tours" to different locations across Los Angeles. Though the buy-in is only $20, the 4SPT has given away over $75,000 in cash winnings over the years. Complex Slim has six career wins; the First Lady has three.

2006 was a big year for Jennifer and Jeff. In August they purchased their first home in Santa Monica -- a two-bedroom condo seven blocks from the beach. In September they adopted Acey Deucey McHolsey, a red dog mixed breed, who has brought unlimited joy to the family.

2007 is shaping up to be quite a year as well! Starting with the proposal in April and looking forward to the wedding in September. It's an exciting time followed by the most exciting time of all -- life together.
